FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 9, 2007

05/09/07, BALTIMORE, MD -- In another move towards solidifying its process improvement core business, Entinex, Inc., a Baltimore-based business process improvement consultancy to the technology development industry announced on Wednesday that it has established a Partner relationship with the Federally-funded Software Engineering Institute (SEI), a research arm of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. The relationship licenses Entinex to deliver training and appraisal services on behalf of the SEI worldwide, and authorizes the company to sponsor new appraisers and instructors into the institute's various product suites.
"While being an SEI Partner certainly establishes us as a trusted provider of SEI's services, we feel that the greater exposure will make it easier for us to meet customer demand," says Hillel Glazer, the company's Principal & CEO. "Considering the world-wide demand on SEI wares, the directory list of SEI Partners with our capabilities isn't terribly long," he explains, "and we're even more selective than that about the company we keep. Being on the list adds credibility and validation of our work. It helps us be found when we others are looking for consulting or teaming help or are looking to validate who we say we are and what we say we can do."
A search on the SEI's partner directory limiting results to partners in "Maryland" yielded 18 listings -- not all of which actually show Maryland addresses.
Teaming among partners is very common and is a key to facilitating the many variations in how to best meet a company's needs. SEI Partners range from micro-businesses like Glazer's to mega-corporations like Northrop Grumman, Sony Corporation, and JP Morgan Chase, to government agencies such as NAVAIR and NSA. However, not all Partners are able to operate as consultants to other companies or outside of their geographic regions. Entinex is licensed to do both; specifically with the SEI product suite known as "CMMI".
CMMI is a model for improving the business processes of development organizations. Many Federal contracts require companies providing products developed to custom specifications to have their business processes appraised against the CMMI model. Failure to appraise to the expected rating level results in fewer opportunities and, for some contractors, in loss of their incumbency on existing contracts.
Glazer noted that the company leapt a slight hurdle in gaining the SEI's blessing to continue with its agilecmmi.com blog and cmmifaq.info FAQ sheet. "We originally put references to our blog and FAQ on our directory listing, but backed off when they voiced concern. As it turns out," he says, "they passed the hyperlinks around to their communications crew, and their contracts team all reviewed our stuff and actually liked it! They simply requested we ensure we keep appropriate source attribution and disclaimers on those pages."
